The FARM in Hackney

The FARM in Hackney is a community based project in the Borough of Hackney in North London. Over several months a derelict old shop was transformed into an urban food hub with a cafe, an arts venue and even a  small Aquaponic fish farm. There are also indoor allotments, indoor chicken coops and a large Polytunnel which is also used to hold events.

Slow food Norwich is pleased to be involved with the FARM as part of our interest in community based farms and growers both in East Anglia and London, including the London Food Link and the Norwich Farm share project.. Several of our members in the Norwich area are small food producers and one has an organic box scheme business so when we were asked by Laura Billings of the FARM if we could hold one of our Olive oil tasting events there we were more than happy to be involved.

Over the coming months Slow Food Norwich will be helping set up the new Slow Food Campus project at UEA in Norwich and by linking with many other like minded groups in the east of England and London we will be able to offer the students and our members a wide variety of  community based schemes to be involved with in 2012.
Our olive oil workshop is at the FARM on Wednesday 7th September and for more details please check out the FARM website and also Eventbrite for more details. http://farmlondon.weebly.com/
